Champagne Laherte Freres Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature NV
Regular price $135.00
Aurèlien Laherte is a name to remember. Taking over his family’s estate in 2007, on the slopes of Épernay in the south of Champagne, Aurelien has been making pure precise grower-maker champagne ever since. In total he has almost 10 hectares, broken up over 75+ parcels of land.
This is a model of what can be achieved in less well-known terroirs by careful study of the soil, and delicate considered winemaking.
A super mineral champagne, this is 100% chardonnay from parcels in Chavot and Épernay. Based from a 2019 wine, disgorged in November 2021. These vineyards are biodynamically farmed, and the soil is rich in chalk and chalky clay (marl), with pockets of flint and schist. With a racy, salty mineratlity, this wine brings energy, freshness and zingy citrus notes.
A blend of two vintages, and as the name suggests, it’s bottled without dosage. Aged for just over two years in bottle following a primary fermentation in barrique and foudre, and like all Laherte’s Champagne this was disgorged by hand.
