Garth Cliff is an Houghton winemaker and this his side project. The vision is to reinvent and reestablish connections with the wines and vineyards of Swan Valley. The wines seem to marry a creative flair with some serious technical know-how. Here’s a pet nat, an en vogue style out of Swan’s often overlooked resources. Towards the end of ferment a portion of the chenin blanc table wine ferment is separated for this pet nat.
Creamy, bright, flavoursome style with lemony-green apple and saline character of the variety with some faint nutty-savouriness underlying. Has some bright acidity tugging through that creamier face of fizz. It’s a good example, has that funk but also the freshness and general good times gist. Nice. - www.winefront.com.au
