Are you a self professed gin freak? Do you consider yourself an anglophile? Do you have curious taste buds? Do you like to be educated while you imbibe? We might not be able to leave our houses yet but we can bring the Gin Bar to you.
This event/tasting brings together the physical (virtual) presences of Will Lowe MW from The Cambridge Distillery (UK) and local importer extraordinaire Ned Brooks (High Hopes Wine Co). This excellent duo have teamed up with international sustainability champion and cocktail creator extraordinaire Matt Whiley of Re bar (previously of Scout, the recipient of European Bartender of the Year award and also just so happens to be The Cambridge Distillery’s national brand ambassador). Synergy!
The Cambridge Distillery was started by Lucy and William Lowe MW. Inspired by the verdant English countryside and the abundance of local botanicals, the Lowe’s set out to create a gin that tastes like their England 'home'. They now have eight-or-so gins, plus limited runs, and one 'couture gin'. The botanicals are chosen based on what’s in season within a ten mile radius of the distillery, and they source a heap from home gardens and farms. Wholesome stuff.
RE bar, the most recent offering from super star bartender Matt Whiley and hospo legend Maurice Terzini (Icebergs Dining Room & Bar, Cicciabella) is focused on a good time that creates no waste - re-duce, re-use, re-cycle. Innovative and ahead of the curve, expect cocktails with ingredients like trout roe, milk wine cordial or truffle. This tasting includes not only gins on tasting, but cocktails from RE bar. Bonus round indeed.
In this incredible tasting, the dynamic duo Will and Ned will take you through a tasting of five of Lowe’s award winning, innovative and boundary pushing gins, with three cocktails conjured from the brilliant mind of Whiley. All of this from the comfort of your own home (pants optional).
