Gary Walsh (Winefront.com.au, presenter and Piedmont expert) is awesome. He hosts tours a couple of times a year to Piedmont, tastes more nebbiolo that just about anyone in Australia, is a brilliant and entertaining speaker, and is hosting this event. Right on.
We’re exploring the ins and outs of Piedmont through the lens of eight to ten wines. Along the way we will see the varied personalities of white wines from the region alongside gems from Barolo, including important single vineyards, Barbaresco, again, a focus on site, and the often-overlooked and outstanding wines of Alto Piedmont, the rustic villages in the north that are increasingly returning to profile for their nebbiolo and local variety red wines.
This is a unique opportunity to mainline a selection of outstanding Piedmont wines, with a focus on producers who work organically, minimally in cellar, use low or no apparent wood influence, and produce some of the world’s most outstanding wines.
