Sorrenberg Gamay

Sorrenberg Gamay

Regular price $59.00

2018 // 750 ml // ABV 13.3%

Whenever any massive wine lover considers biodynamics in Australia, Sorrenberg often is one of the first wineries considered. Their small 3 hectare vineyard was established in 1984 in the region of Beechworth, which is just south of our border. The  soils are predominantly granite based, but luckily for Sorrenberg they have a base of red mudstone which helps to increase the water holding capacity of the soil and as a result increases the density of the wines. This sense of place is very evident in this wine, which is predominantly gamay with a touch of pinot noir. It basically looks like a super bright gamay, blended with the intense structural side of pinot noir. There are sweet cherry and raspberry notes, with plenty of spice and white pepper. Good now, but will only get more delicious over the next few years.
