Sally Rainbows Modigliana 2021
“A cat called Modigliana. She's fluffy, but she's tough.” - Ferals tv theme song
Long skin contact organic chardonnay from Central Ranges, NSW. Proper amber wine, but not as rustic as you would think from six months on skins. No additions. - Sally Rainbows
Trutta Viognier 2021
Chewy and bright and lovely and soft. Stone fruits, apricot mostly, some citrus, a little nougat maybe. Has a good sense of dryness. Superb length. It feels fancy. It has some saline minerality going on. Sheesh, it ticks a lot of boxes! Nice work Trutta.
aller trop loin Sweetness & Light 2021
Crafted from 12 day skin contact riesling grown at Bendigo Wine Estate, a 25yo vineyard nestled on the banks of the Campaspe River, that sits on rich loamy soils in the Axedale region of Bendigo.
Aromas of mango, sherbet, white flowers, jasmine tea and green peppercorns with flavours of apricots, honey dew, yellow peach, nectarines and sumac.
Named after the Australian electronica masterpiece by Itch-E & Scratch-E, this wine is seriously skinsy and textural with vibrant acidity and a long finish. - aller
Forlorn Hope Songs From Mars Black Sallad Sauvignon Rock 2020
Californian vigneron Matt Rorick makes these wines in the shed alongside Jaysen Collins (JC’s Own) in the Barossa Valley. Last year had Matt on the bench in Cali with Aussie borders shut, so he talked Jaysen into the winemaking for this organic farmed savvy b. Skin time, firm pressing, long time on lees, the wine builds texture and weight into itself but with this screeching, tangy, bright and refreshing acidity that will have you hanging onto the last of the warmer, summery vibes of the year. Brilliant wine.
Made by Monks Pineapple Candle Chenin Blanc Riesling 2020
Smells quite rich, lemon curd/lemon butter, ripe mandarin, baked apple and cinnamon. Soft in the palate, quite honeyed and slick, bbq pineapple, barley sugar lollies. Sweet, but finishes dry as, tart and bright. Really curious expression but one joyful mouthful after another. - The Wine Front
Double Rainbouu Fruut Luups 2021
Yarra Valley sauvignon blanc in an skinsy, chewy, somewhat wild mode, made by the amazing Mac Forbes and brought to life by us with creative consultation from our friends at the brilliant fashion label, Double Rainbouu. This is a new project that brings together a lot of goodness in a limited release wine.
Here, winemaking was varied and saw skin fermentation as whole berries, crushed berries and even some direct pressed whole bunch action. The bottom line is we get a very complex, refreshing, summery white with nice grip, great herb n spice and tropical fruit perfume and a crunchy, saline, thirst quenching vibe going on. Collector's item? Amazing drink? Good times? You got it.
