2020 Konpira Maru MK Rosé
Killer wine here. Defying the pale, often insipid ‘Provencale’ styles of rose, this is full flavour, full colour and full texture and in full effect. It’s a combo of three pinots, an increasingly popular trio off a low base, but you get the detail of perfume from the marriage of those red grapes, crunch and lightness of gris and meunier, cherry-juice sluice from noir. When it all boils down to it you get a funky number in your glass from a couple of wise -to- it younger gen winemakers. Fragrant, refreshing, moreish gear here. A clever way of building complexity and interest into rose with layering of varieties and letting it darken up a little. Yes.
2020 Doom Juice X Sindy Sinn Rosé
Fresh to death here, a fizzy pink to join the family of Frizzante. Refreshing raspberry, subtle strawberry and juicy jubes, this is a fizzy-banger that will satisfy every palate AND your wallet. Choice !
2020 Baltic Tea Pinkish
Hello savoury, dry, complex rose. This one sees the unusual but loveable combination of negroamaro, grenache and mataro - all squished, the juice is raised in old barrels and left alone to do its thing for a good sleep before being bottled. The joining of these varieties comes out real nice in this pale coloured rose that delights for its perfume, prettiness, but slightly kinky twist of good-bitterness that feels zesty and refreshing at once. Drink just off stone cold to see the wine really fly. Best with strong sunlight and wading pools.
2019 Somos Barbera Rosé
Lurid pink colour. Neon even. Amazing! So pervy.
Raspberry cream scents. That's about it. Similar to taste. Delicious. Vibrant and fresh acidity underlying. Almost sour to close. A more 'generous' feel to the wine despite it being sort of thirst-quenching and simple (in the best possible way). Very pleasing...
2020 M&J Becker Wines Rosé
Mostly syrah, free run juice, and little bits and pieces of brachetto, schonberger and gewurztraminer. All organic. No fining or filtering. Becker an increasingly potent force in Hunter Valley wine land.
Raspberry lollies, raspberry liquorice, light spice. Palate is jolly and slippery, red berry fruitiness, slightly pinched in its finish but rolls along nicely in this gummy, juicy kind of way. Feels very simple, neat and tidy, a please all comers kind of rose that does lots to refresh and delight with ease. - The Wine Front
2019 Farm Wine Syrah Rosé
Expect a bright blush colour with a hint of strawberries and dried herbs on the nose. The palate is bone dry but with plenty of fruit viscosity to balance it out. There’s a lovely drive of acidity leaving a feeling of salty minerality in the mouth. Finally, full malo-lactic fermentation then eight months ageing on lees has built a layer of complexity and intrigue. - Hawkins Family Wine
