P&V Prosecco NV By Freeman Family Vineyards
It's prosecco but done righteously, natural ferment, no additions, zero sulphur and a bit out of the box for the expectations of the variety and style. This one is hazy in the glass, a bit like cloudy apple juice, it's refreshing as all get out with zingy bubbles and offers up good sense of nutty-savouriness too. Damn, this one is interesting and great. Delicious!
Cornuto Contento Bianco Macerato 2022
A new wine from our good friend and Paddington neighbour Harry Levy of Porcine. Direct press shiraz from Canowindra, New South Wales run over chardonnay skins. A hybrid orange/rose wine one might say. Grab a bottle and you be the judge!
Les Fruits Peu de Peau 2021
Principally Adelaide Hills sauvignon blanc from Oakbank blended with a portion of McLaren Vale chardonnay and sauvignon blanc from high in the ranges on the border with the Adelaide Hills GI. All fermented on skins then aged in old French oak for 8 months.
More orange than yellow in colour, probably thanks to the chardonnay. Lightly cloudy and delicious looking as the glass frosts up. The nose is all Cotties orange cordial with some spice and dried herbs adding complexity. The palate lies right in the sweet spot of the skin ferment triangle of luscious fruit, juicy acidity and fluffy tannins. Flavours start off with orange and mango fruit drink but the acidity then brings in tarter lemon and grapefruit before a burst of saltiness and finally the tannins ensuring a properly dry finish. Summer in a bottle!
Main & Cherry Rosy Gris 2021
Skin fermented pinot gris, and yes, it is kinda rose-like, but the texture and freshness here drinks more white-ish and has a high refreshment factor. Light chew and dryness in the palate with a washy of nashi pear, green pear and licks of rosemary herbal stuff. Super easy to like and drink. It’s a charming, any time of day kind of vibe, right on.
