Valli Unite Bianco Frizzante Il Brut and the Beast 2018
A fizzy wine from Valli Unite, a coop in Costa Vescovato, Piedmote - where "income is not the main value" and natural winemaking is seen as a social responsibility. There are about 30 people who live here, caring for the vines among orchards, woodlands, pastures and gardens. This is a light and fresh pet nat, clean and crisp and made with love, it's never not the right time to release the beast.
Monastero Suore Coenobium 2018
Farmed organically on five hectares in the town Vitorchiano, in the region of Lazio (about an hour north of Rome). The sisters of Monastero Suore Cistercensi have gained a cult following among wine aficionados. This wine is a blend of trebbiano, verdicchio, and malvasia which is harvested together and allowed to spontaneously ferment using indigenous yeasts. Aromas in the spectrum of fennel and chamomile there is a distinct autumnal character to this wine that transcends description. Bright acidity rings out and gives life to some delicate spices. Bella!
Daniele Piccinin Muni Bianco 2018
Cloudy, cidery orangey delight from chef-turned-winemaker Daniele Piccinin making natural wine waves outside Verona, blending chardonnay and the native durella variety in this instance. That almost-fortified aroma of dried apricot and bruised peach, with a layered palate that throws red apples and cinnamon into the medium-plus bodied mix, as well. Plenty of intrigue here for fans of the more outré, yet still precise and balanced.
Sagona Gattorosso 2018
Sangiovese, colorino, malvasia nera, canaiolo, ciliegiolo blend from Tuscany here. Fresh and frisky.
Crystal clear feel to this wine. Crunchy pomegranate and cranberry vibes, touch of spice, some nice liquorice character, a touch of fragrant and fresh alpine herb in the mix. Drinks all frisky and crisp, lightly juicy, fine tannin crunch. So thirst-quenching and delicious here. Man!
Colle Florido Erba Salata 2018
A rustic and dynamic montepulciano here from a young wine couple in Abruzzo. It springs out of the glass, wild scents of sticky balsamic and savoury herbaciousness, red berries and licks of licorice.
This wine has a youthful energy and is the perfect balance of wild and precise. Get amongst it.
