Les Fruits Rudy Chardonnay 2019
Rudy is a good name though one that is less common in our current landscape of naming kids after Game Of Thrones characters or obscure flowers, but don't take this wine on its old school name, this is fresh, bright, exciting white wine, cool and reserved, lightly saline, just a splash of green apple, a whiff of floral things. It's a stunner. Equal parts gluggable refreshing and fancy pants.
Les Fruits is a formidable range of wines produced by award winning sommelier turned wine importer/distributor Tim Stock. He lives and breathes these wines each year, returning to his Adelaide roots regularly and for long periods to get the wines off vine and in bottle.
Cascina Val del Prete Luet Roero Arneis 2018
Cucumber and tonic scents, touches of talc, lavender. Pretty as. Cool in profile, leaner, greener white stone fruit flavours, a lilt of slipperiness in texture, some faint nutty-white almond concentration. So lovely. This has so much going for it. Finishes a dream too. Delicious.
Minim Colbinabbin Fiano 2018
Fiano taken to the next level by our (and your) mate Tim from Minim. Barrel time, bottle time, texture plus plus. It's all happening here. Beautiful floral and nutty perfume. Lush in the palate but with bright cut of acidity and nice salty finish. This is one of those wines that you do a double take on your glass mid sentence because it makes you stop for half a second to clock it again. Refreshing and interesting. A rare bird.
