Eureka Pooley Little Frances Pet Nat 2018
Erin Pooley is an Australian winemaker who went to live in the US of A for a while. She worked in various amazing places, but gravitated to making wine in California. Good story, good human. Anyway, her range of wines under the Little Frances label focussed a lot on semillon, a link to Erin's love of Hunter semillon. Long story short, she's come back to Australia for a while and brought with her her amazing range of Cali wines. Lucky us. This pet nat is wild - savoury, salty, nutty, bready, with licks of dried and fresh citrus, good green apple juice tang and a lick of bitter herbs. It's frothy and fizzy and delicious and fun. It's made from chenin blanc and dosed up with a splash of semillon. Go forth!
2018 blend of viognier and pinot gris that has has a kiss of skin contact. Plus direct press riesling and barrel ferment chardonnay. Blah, blah, blah, way too many words. All you need to know is that this wine is textural as all get out, hazy, cloudy apple juice vibes with chalky pucker. Yeeewwwww, yes please!

Arfion Fever 2020
Fever is all about the vintage, not about vineyards, not about varieties, but about the sum of what went on. Truth! Five varieties, six vineyards, co-fermented, lots of skin fermentation, for 60 days or so. Gris (some on skins), gewurz (skins), chardonnay (direct press), pinot noir (saignee), savagnin (direct press). One of those hybrid orange-rose wines that is pretty much becoming its own category these days. - The Wine Front
Garagiste Cotier Gentle 2020
'Gentle' is a play on words of the Alsace 'gentile' wines which are typically a 'top of hill vineyard blend' of gris, gewurz, riesling, pinot blanc, but in this case gris, gewurz, riesling, sauvignon blanc - Cotier is the pet project for skin fermentation wines for unreal Mornington Peninsula based winemaker Barney Flanders of Garagistes wine fame. This is a true orange wine, hyper perfumed, bright, fresh-feeling, chewy textured, grippy finishing kinda deal. Citrus, stone fruits, dried fruits, bergamot tea. YUM.
Fallow Bright Star 2020
Syrah and chardonnay wedded in this bright, shiny garnet looking thing. Clear glass, crown seal, set your palates to ‘skol’. Naturally made, no additives, no preservatives. So, so delicious! Crisp, all cranberry and pomegranate juice, red apple and some watermelon juice for good measure. Slippery texture that finds a little grip. Juicy in a way but also quite sleek, speeds through the palate all fresh and vivacious, thirst quenching and frisky. - The Wine Front
Frankly, Bob Made This Red 2020
Semi-carbonic macerated shiraz from Canowindra blended with mataro rose. Lot's of red fruit character here, with a touch of stalkiness which is intriguing. Aged in old French barriques. - Bob Colman
