A highly balanced rum, The Jamaica 2013 is distilled from fermented molasses in a pot still, aged for 5 years in ex-bourbon barrel and bottled at Navy Strength with no additions of sugars or colourings, at Worthy Park Estate which has been in operation since 1670. Rich and velvety there is notes of honey, stone fruits and salted almonds.
The Transcontinental Rum Line range is inspired by the voyages of rum casks between the New World and the Old Continent (Europe), a collaboration between French independent bottler La Maison du Whisky and Velier (an Italy-based Rum innovator that developed its own Caribbean Rum line in the 1980s). Less than 10 cases are chooses for each rum with each style of rum never exceeding 2000 bottles. The rums do the bulk of their ageing in their country of origin and then transported to the LMDW’s facility in Cognac to complete their ageing, in this case 5 years in Jamaica and 1 year in Cognac.
