A real surprise here. We love the vibe of Cirelli’s fantastic, expressive wines, but this one caught us out with its subtle but there Jura-like oxidative, saline, salty-mineral vibe. Yep. We dig that character. Sure, there’s plenty of white flesh tropical fruit, nashi pear kind of fresh fruitiness, but underlying is that bass-note of sea spray and savoury nuttiness we find so very appealing. It’s a killer wine for just drinking chilled while you’re chilling, but will do well with food, indeed, works a treat with the kick off of a long lunch or similar. Trebbiano usually is simple stuff, but treated with respect, given judicious winemaking approach, here we have something way more interesting.
