A one-off wine made in conversation with my friend Ella Mittas. We were searching for gentle aromatics, savoury flavours and a chalky ‘clay like’ texture so this particular corner of the upper Yarra was the perfect place to look.
Bright, slightly herbaceous aromatics - reminiscent of riverside clay and long grass. Bright yet soft white fruits, cumquat and lime with salivating, moorish acidity. Texture is delicious and defies the easy, pretty aromatics and flavours. It's a somewhat complex and very satisfying glass.
It was so fun to play with such present acidity from a cool climate. Thanks to Ella for the handsome label artwork. - Pat Underwood, Little Reddie
