Winemaker Andrew Wardlaw is a lovely fella, earnest and hard-working with a creative streak for his wines. This is a brand new release that sees a combination of semillon (mostly) with smaller portions of chardonnay and riesling, all barrel fermented with some skin fermentation. It’s fragrant of nashi pear and preserved lemon with some gingery spice in the mix. It tastes similar, albeit with this lovely saline minerality and a pulpy grapefruity finish amongst the chewy texture. Such a refreshing, wonderful thing to drink.
