“So 2020 was pretty low as a year, yield wise, with the set pretty poor and then warm, dry, bushfire stuff putting stress on things, and the grapes didn’t put on much weight”, explains winemaker Dave Bro Mackintosh, “Fever is all about the vintage, not about vineyards, not about varieties, but about the sum of what went on, and, about me. I want to eliminate varieties and give drinkers a different type of time and place, the most artistic wine and not about style paradigms”. Truth! Five varieties, six vineyards, co-fermented, lots of skin fermentation, for 60 days or so. Gris (some on skins), gewurz (skins), chardonnay (direct press), pinot noir (saignee), savagnin (direct press). One of those hybrid orange-rose wines that is pretty much becoming its own category these days.

Textural feast with ballistic freshness and a hardcore drinkability. Light, powdery texture, a spread of berry/citrus going on, delicate herb and spice detail, saline minerally characters in the mix and a bit of floral stuff too. Juiciness is a feature, one could say too. So much easy pleasure,  pretty as can be, intriguing too. Yes! - The Wine Front
