Brash Higgins Bloom 2015
Regular price $158.00
Aldinga Country. The third release of this wine, an homage to Jura of sorts, with chardonnay seeing oxidative handling and six and a half years under flor in barrel. A much hyped wine, indeed, and a darling of Instagram. Has leaped up in price accordingly. Rewards of patience and all that. Great project from Brad Hickey of Brash Higgins. Definitely the best use of McLaren Vale chardonnay.
Attractive, oxidative sea spray and warmed cashew characters, green apple, dried and fresh, then curry powder, fino whiffs and licks and a generous accompaniment of sweet spice. Definite echoes of Jura, perhaps here a bit richer and sweeter, albeit frisky with lime juice acidity and saline minerally characters. While there’s a bit going on, it also feels pretty straight forward in a way. Generous scent, big mouthful of flavour, freshness in tow, good drinkability. It’s a great ‘experience wine’ here. - The Wine Front
