Cascina Tavijn consist in about five hectares of vineyards and two hectares of hazelnuts, all organically grown (certified since 2007). Nadia like to works with little intervention as possible in the cellar and with only native grapes: grignolino, ruche', barbera, freisa, slarina and baratuciat.
This wine is 100% grignolino, fermented spontaneously in stainless steel tanks and aged in concrete. This native Piedmontese grape dates back to ancient times and is part of the DNA of the hills between Asti and Casale Monferrato. The name comes from the word "grignole", dialect for pips as this grape presents numerous seeds, more than most other varieties. Light in colour but with a great tannin structure, both from skin & pips, this is a very much loved grape by Piedmontese people.
This label is dedicated to Ottavio, Nadia's dad. - Giorgio de Maria Fun Wines
