Chouette Nightshade Syrah 2024

Made in concrete egg fermenters and partly in used French oak barrels. One of the pleasing and yet very distinct features of this wine is its heady, piquant spice elements. So evocative and interesting. Alongside, blackberry, rose hip tea, tart cherry and some Italianate herbal elements. It’s medium weight, shows some dusty tannin profile and chewiness, offers some sweetness to fruit but doesn’t feel overall sweet, distinctly savoury instead. A wonderful, pretty, intriguing red wine.
