70% Chardonnay, 30% savagnin from 20-60 year old vines from the Petit Curoulet parcel, grown on gravel and marl. Co-fermented and aged in old 500L barrels and 2000L foudre for 18 months. Topped up weekly.
Pears, apples and minerals. Quite floral and frosty. Rather flinty on the nose after a while. Lovely fruit in the mouth – pears, lime, apples. And a tiny dusting of nutmeg on the back palate. The fruit is sweet and full, but the wine is well balanced and dry. A little bit more giving than 2017, which was slightly leaner by comparison. This will be a lovely food wine. A little bit briny in the background...More tension comes with air as the wine opens up. Perfectly integrated fruit, and a well-balanced wine. - Larkin Imports
