The area of Savoie has been planted with vines since the roman era, yet many vineyards lay fallow. In 1998 a team of passionate people worked to resurrect two steep and rocky areas overgrown by forest. Together they created Domaine des Ardoisieres and its two vineyards Coteau de Cevins and Saint Pierre de Soucy. The domaine is now led by Brice Ormont, originally from the Champagne region and considered to be Savoie’s brightest star. Using biodynamic techniques and principles, the domaine grows predominantly native Savoyard grapes.
Precise and generous. A combination of the traditional grapes, mondeuse and persan with relative newcomer gamay. By maturing the wine in tank, Brice has captured youthfully unfettered elements of each variety. 65% juicy raspberry gamay vibes. A 10% splash of persan for herbal complexity and depth. With 25% mondeuse bringing home some sour black cherry, velvety tannins and spice. The combo has a rich iron ore minerally core and will keep you thinking about it for quite a while. Tiny allocation – grab it while you can!
