The area of Savoie has been planted with vines since the roman era, yet many vineyards lay fallow. In 1998 a team of passionate people worked to resurrect two steep and rocky areas overgrown by forest. Together they created Domaine des Ardoisieres. The domaine is now led by Brice Ormont, and this 100% jacquere is a prime example of the wines from this region. Young with light orchard and stone fruits, white flowers, citrus peel and a salty minerality that provides a satisfyingly savoury quality. Much like the bowl of jamon stuffed olives I'm eating now, a hedonistic pairing.
