Domaine Jousset Exile Blanc 2018
Regular price $59.00
Lise Jousset came to Rootstock Sydney back in the olden days and was mobbed for her amazing sparkling wines. That tradition continues (and the pink, fizzy Exile wine is outstanding), but this is something different. As I understand, Exile is negociant fruit, but guided very closely by the amazing organic/biodynamic work of the Jousset’s. Here is half chenin, and then the other half split between colombard and ugni blanc.
If you wanted to show someone a ‘salty white wine’ then here you go. Extreme minerally characters, freshness, tartness, citrus, green apple and oyster shell. Some light, cloying slip to texture but the finish is all tang and salt water. It’s fragrant too, but pretty mellow in that regard, lemon balm, more ocean air, a bit of almond. Oh, there’s nutty savouriness in flavours too. It’s outrageously delicious. - WineFront.com.au
