“Making Barolo is hedonism, it is art. Wine is hedonism. But wine, too, needs identity: I need to be able to say “This is Barolo.” - Teobaldo Cappellano
Augusto Cappellano is a young fifth generation winemaker whose family estate in Piedmont was officially founded in 1870, however a Barolo was produced as far back as 1861. Augusto took over from his father Teobaldo, a revered legend in Barolo and further afield, after he died in 2009. Teobaldo attracted attention for his unique philosophy, meticulous approach to winemaking and the resulting profound character of his wines. These are hard to get cult nebbiolos. Giddy up!
