Winemaker Rhen Dodd cut his teeth alongside various high profile avant garde wine producers before embarking on his own project focussing on Victorian vineyards. Ask our Mike Bennie for his top ten Australian ‘skinsy white wines’ and he’ll respond with this in the list. Always judiciously skin fermented for tension and texture in the palate, the wine is exceptional in its carriage of vermentino’s crunch and tang, but with things dialled up in volume, nicely. That chalky textural fuzz in the palate draws long and to a squeaky, moreish finish. Flavours are tonic water, cucumber, citrus. Lovely and fresh. It’s such a delight here.
