Gentle Folk’s organic-farmed Ashton vineyard is set deep in the Adelaide Hills at over 500 metres above sea level. Gareth and Rainbo source the fruit from a vineyard guarded by Wendy the ostrich - truth. It’s the most opulent of the 2019 chardonnays, feeling sumptuous with stewed yellow stone fruit flavours and layers of sweet spice. Though showing creamy mouthfeel and a certain cashew nuttiness there’s a spine of saline minerality reminiscent of some of Jura’s best wines. Its overflowing with a generosity of flavour and texture. One to ponder while you sink into the sofa.
