Living Roots Rizz Fizz 2021
Hazy in glass, cloudy apple juice looking thing. Scents of banana-esque yeasty characters, cashew nuts, lemon juice. Spritely and sparkly wine, very bright, super dry, bitter kind of feel that’s very refreshing, almost tart-juice-like rather than vinous but hey, pet nat, fun! Delicious drinking.
Rongo Wines Reflection Riesling 2024
The Reflection Riesling is sourced from a single Vineyard in the Strathbogie Ranges, Taungurung Country. The region's warm, sunny days and cool, crisp nights of late summer and early autumn foster the development of delicate aromatics and racy acidity, culminating in an intense, steely palate. The nose reveals an intricate bouquet of herbs and spices, rosemary, thyme, and lavender, complemented by notes of yellow and green apples and preserved lemon. This is an alternative stylistic statement.
Selection Massale Marlborough Orange 2023
A light, juicy, skin-contact grüner veltliner with elevated aromatics and texture. The fruit for this wine was wild-fermented on its skins for six weeks before being pressed-off and returned into stainless steel tank. Full malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged on lees for 9 months before being bottled unfiltered and unfined.
Frederick Stevenson Rose 2023
From the excellent winemaker Steve Crawford based out of Adelaide/Barossa Valley. A proper rosé with proper depth of flavour, proper chewy texture, proper sense of freshness, proper mix of red berry fruitiness, Campari zing, rose hip tea piquancy and a dressing of herbs and spice. It’s got lots packed into it but never forgets to be refreshing and moreish. Wonderful drinking.
Chateau Sholto Pinot Noir 2024
Our great mate Sholto Broderick from Basket Range Wines has done it again and smashed it out of the park for the second time. 2024 is a blend of a different clones and two different sites making for a more plush and complex pinot compared to last vintage. Red berries and fresh cherries, white pepper and floral notes sit in a more medium bodied expression. Juicy and earthy.
Stoke Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
All the charm here. Svelte and medium bodied, very savoury, lots of tree bark, sandalwood, cardamom and caraway seeds in dark cassis, choc-mulberry, mint and cola. Slips along the palate well, supple and yet with tension, a fine web of lacy tannin lending shape, enough to tighten but not quite lend chew. Freshness inherent, some saline notes and alpine herb lift. It’s well balanced, long and fine. Elegance in the whisper after each sip.
