1940’s bush vine Grenache, brought back to trellis in 1980 farmed by Karen Jahn and Peter Cahill. Mclaren Flat is a weird name for the mid lands above the flats of the Mclaren Vale, just bellow Blewitt Springs. The soils are deep sands on clay and produce highly aromatic wines with oodles of natural acidity. The vineyard is called Lilies as Karen’s other passion and job is to farm and sell water lilies so the Grenache sits next to 10 or so beautiful big ponds of water plants, fish and lilies.
Our most opulent single vineyard Grenache. - James Erskine, Jauma
