If you’re on the hunt for Beaujolais benchmarks (and let’s face it – who isn’t?), then Foillard should most definitely be on your list if it isn’t already. This is one of his most coveted cuvées, and only minute quantities make it to this end of the Earth. Like all of his wines, it’s a meticulously calibrated and elegant thing – dizzyingly floral on top, with a bouquet of ripe, crunchy and wild red berries that leaps from the glass. There’s complexity and detailed minerality that belie the wine’s lightness and brightness, and a mouthfeel that’s silky, satiny and graceful AF. Be prepared for your breath to be taken away.
