Jean Jacques Morel is one of the gentlest and kindest souls in the wine world. Alongside being one hell of a gentleman, he's a brilliant winemaker, and has held the title of Burgundy's smallest (in land) vigneron for a long time. He came to Australia to show his wines at Rootstock Sydney festival and on a visit to the Adelaide Hills, fell in love with the place and, in a huge benefit to us, now makes wine there. Wonderful.
Here is his take on grenache. Seamless, svelte, perfumed and pretty, it's a wondrous and pure thing of delicacy but good flavour. Slurpy in the right bits, then tight in others. Such a great experience.
