Brutall!!! is an open source label born out of a group of natural winemakers in Europe who designated some of their wildest expressions to this naming. These are some of Europe’s most hardcore organic farmers, working small plots and strict in sticking to zero zero (no adds, organic, no sulphur) winemaking. As an open source label anyone can write Brutal!!! on their label, as was the original philosophy. Here’s one from a brand new Australian producer, sourcing fruit here (as I understand) and making zero zero wine.
Sourced from the Adelaide Hills, this wine is a very nutty, earthy, savoury and tannic expression of merlot. Dark plum, black olives, black pepper, tree bark and fennel characters. It’s grippy and dense but has a lift and freshness too. It’s definitely a wild expression of merlot but has a sense of vibrancy despite the grip and pucker, though the mouse cage-walnut paste is creeping in during tasting . Enjoyable, in its edgy way, for a glass (drink cold and fast, no?) - Wine Front
