Made by the Konpira Maru crew on an excursion to winery Bodega Pulmary in an international winemaking mission for the ages. Fruit for this wine is farmed organically, the winery is a bastion of lo-fi winemaking. This wine is an absolute belter – slate-mineral and berry aromatics with a long, lingering pallet of dark, plummy fruit and clove-y spice. All of this is underpinned with a fine, high-altitude freshen-up of natural acidity. The wine is an attractive, deep but bright hue and finds a vitality not often associated with Mendoza. In short, it’s a charming drink, with lots going on.
