Lamoresca Nero Nero d'Avola 2021

Only the third vintage of this wine from Lamoresca. 100% nero d'avola. Why Nero d'avola I hear you say? Nero d'avola is the most present grape in Sicily, and at the same time, often very badly vinified. This hails from a 20 year old vineyard, 550 m above sea level, sandy soil. Two months of maceration on the skins, aged in concrete tanks for one year and two years in the bottle before release.

Spicy, almost mustard green, but also liquorice/aniseed, violets, earth, cherry and amaro. It’s fresh, sappy, an earthy grip to tannin, orange peel and spiced strawberry, so much zest and tang, but has the bass to go with it.
