Les Bertrand Morgon Dynamite 2022

Yann Bertrand's philosophy is simple; attain the most beautiful balance possible for the soil, as a soil with good equilibrium will produce a grape that represents the terroir where it's grown. Les Bertrand is located in a special part of Beaujolais called 'Grand-pre'. A section that straddles the Crus of both Fleurie and Morgon and is rich in sandy, granitic soil.

This cuvee is 100% gamay from 60+ year old vines on sandy granite and schist soils rich in iron oxide. Elevage is a mix of old barriques amd demi-muds for ten months followed by an additional eleven months in bottle prior to release. Black cherries, smoky and chiselled. Fine powdery tannins. Kirsch with a hint of clove and cocao. Powerful, yet restrained. - Liz Carey, importer
