Awamori is a rice based beverage uniquely belonging to Okinawa, Japan. Made from long grain Indica rice but unlike sake which is brewing it is the direct result of distilling. The most popular way to drink Awamori is with water and ice, however is can commonly be drunk straight.
Located a 30 minute ferry ride from Okinawa on the the island of Irabu, the Miyanohana distillery was founded in 1942 Seiko Shimoji, Seiko's wife is the master distiller. A lighter fresher style here, dry with notes of fresh herbs, almonds and coconut.
