Municipal wines are exciting. From Strathbogie Ranges in Victoria, grown without irrigation, farmed with organics, in some respects under the radar, but awesome, and from a producer (Matt Froude) who basically just focuses entirely on quality, releasing wines when ready, and letting them rest before we get stuck into them. They're wines that sing from the glass and deliver a lot of complexity and depth. This is a heartier expression of cab franc, plummy, laced with brambly herbs, dusted with pepper, but oh so moreish and delicious. A bit of a winter warmer, you could say. No sulphur added too.
