John Okro would definitely be one of the most 'famous' wine producers in the subregion of Kakheti in the eastern part of Georgia. There's depth and concentration to be found in here. The native rkatsiteli grape fermented in kvevri with absolutely no additions at all. A bit more residual sugar than most of these Gerorgian wines, but in a good way – slightly more round, plump, polished. Stone fruits poached in syrup, a bit of peat and other spicy things in the mix, crunchy leaves and herbs. Frisky, fabulous.
