Orange (skin contact/amber) Wine Masterclass w/ Mike Bennie // Weds 17 Feb // 6.30-8.30pm
Regular price $70.00
No, not a masterclass on the central New South Wales wine region, this is indeed a tasting and discussion that celebrates all things ‘lowercase o’ orange wines – the amazing wine style that sees white grapes going through extended skin contact during fermentation: white wines made like red wines.
Orange wines can be some of the most interesting wines on the planet. These wines truly express a sense of place, turning up the volume on white grape varieties. Orange wines are among the most ancient of wine styles — often misunderstood, sometimes maligned, yet increasingly sought after and appreciated.
There’s a wonderful history to explore alongside the discovery and modern reinterpretation of skin-contact wines. Join wine writer/presenter, P&V co-founder and orange wine enthusiast Mike Bennie on for a tasting of around eight orange wines that reveal the ancient, the modern and everything in between. See wines with short, long and incredibly long maceration, from traditional and contemporary producers of orange wine, both local and imported.
