For a long time Bryan Martin has been plying his trade in the Canberra District, but only until recently has he been able to find the right site with some plantings of Nebbiolo. Nebbiolo is a finicky variety that likes long and relatively cool growing seasons to ripen to full maturity and complexity. The site found is out in nearby Young at the Grove Estate. This wine only sees large format oak for 10 months and definitely is the better for it. It's distinctly floral, with quite a gamey core with splashings of red fruit. It can be drunk now, but if I was you I would stick it away for a few years to let it shine even more. Fantastic, Australian Nebbiolo at its finest!
