Sebastien Riffault's wines are named for the individual parcels of vines and their specific terroir. Auksinis (meaning gold in Lithuanian) comes from a parcel in Verdigny, Sancerre, where the 50+ year old vines grow on clay and limestone soils, called Caillottes. The 2010 had 50% botrytis affected fruit and it spent two years in tank and then one year in old barrels before bottling.
Powerful and graceful sauvignon blanc. Ripe golden fruits and nuts are joined by a unmissable salty, oxi edge. The botrytis fruit gives really silken mouthfeel at the centre but then it moves over to a grippy, saline finish.
