Sicily is a brilliant slice of Italy with a wine scene that oscillates between mega-industrial production and some of the world’s most sought after artisan, natural wines. The landscape varies from saline, refreshing maritime whites of Marsala in the west, to the guttural, compelling nerello mascalese reds of Mount Etna’s northern slopes, through to bright, refreshing wines south of Etna, particularly nero d’avola, through to unusual expressions from the remote island of Pantelleria.
This good times, intriguing masterclass will see happy participants getting into eight to ten (8 to 10) unique examples of wine from around Sicily. Join Mike Bennie in a one-off tasting session and conversation that, through each glass, will cover diverse sub-regions of Sicily, a breadth of grape varieties and wine styles, cult wine producers.
