Made by one of the loveliest humans on the planet, Brendan Hilferty, a wine community veteran of sorts (he aint that old!), who makes wine in a pint-sized winery in Marrickville in Sydney, alongside mead from his own honey, and collaborates with the awesome Wayne Ahrens in Barossa Valley. This year the wine is one third Eden Valley and two thirds of old vine grenache off Smallfry’s biodynamic vineyard.
Slippery textured, bright black and red berry fruits, herbal notes, light fennel and liquorice notes, Chinese five spice in the mix. Slips over the palate well, ribbons of building tannin delivering structure and tension, excellent length. A beautiful, fine grenache wine. – WineFront
