The Hutton Vale Farm in the Eden Valley is a rugged Aussie landscape of scree and thatches of gum trees, sheep, kangaroos and ruddy earth. It’s an exposed place but at elevation, and the cooler breath of Eden Valley is writ large in this just over medium weight but deeply-flavoured wine. It feels impossibly long in flavour, supple, succulent and rich but lifted on fresh acidity and fine, silty tannins lend shape to the wine. Expect blueberry and mulberry fruit spectrum scents and flavours, whiffs and licks of mixed herbs and pretty spice. A brilliant wine for now that unfurls luxuriously over time. Cellar long too.
