Travis Tausend is a very thoughtful winemaker who seems to take his time, righteously, with his wines. Cautious to release, more art than science perhaps, and a broad set of references to make his original range of wines. All au naturale, no additions, from organic-farmed vineyard sources around the Adelaide Hills. This is semillon from Hope Forest in the Hills, fermented/macerated for two weeks on skins and then pressed off to old oak for 18 months rest before bottling.
Delicious, moreish wine of fine tannin, starburst of acidity and wonderful texture. Scents of lime and salted nuts with sweet floral whiffs. Has some richness to flavour, stone fruity lets say, but inherent freshness, sense of energy and all that filigree of tannin working magic on the tongue. Drinks almost with a nourishing quality, like a health tonic or similar. Really beautiful and glorious expression here. - The Wine Front
