Freddy Cossard has some exceptional plots in Volnay, a vaunted parish of Burgundy for plusher, flavoursome pinot noir, albeit his expressions tend to the more ethereal and bright, with purity of fruit a calling card and gentle savouriness the defining element. Silky texture with a light tug of fine tannin. A delicate detail in red cherry, woody spices and subtle umami characters. Sheesh, this is such a good wine.
