Rare, sought-after, amazing, distinct, high drinkability, incredible quality. Freddie Cossard's wines of Burgundy are mythological. While most of this release heralds from the home turf of Burgundy, of course, we also know that Freddie looks further afield for grape sources, including working with his pal Jean-François Ganevat from the Jura where he has overlaid his inimitable winemaking talent on classic Jura varieties and various experiments alike. While the partnership with Ganevat continues, we’ve been treated to a kaleidoscope of wines from this release – our allocation covers all the major sites and styles (pretty much) available in Australia.
The wines are, as always, pure expressions of their varied grapes, marked by incredible finesse and refinement, so damn sleek and downright delicious. Cossard is known for wines that eke out expression from often lesser sung terroirs and parishes of Burgundy, but the resulting wines tremble with energy and vitality. The Jura wines are formidable, including those that talk to us through extended skin fermentation and the orange wine paradigm.
