Saison Vermouth! The words up in lights. Chef Dave Verheul from our beloved Embla in Melbourne has gifted us one of the most exciting, delicious and wildly drinkable vermouth ranges going around. Strong seasonality is a focus. Distinct, original ingredients a motif. The resulting vermouths have been incredible for us, poured wildly and liberally, set free in magnum (!) and drunk in gardens, on balconies, in parks and at tables with a similar gusto to any of the most thirst-quenching and delicious beverages on earth.
We've got the latest release from Saison on hand. A compelling Black Walnut vermouth that brings together wormwood with organically grown walnuts (and the leaves) with cumquat, chamomile and roasted barley koji as seasonings. If all that sounds unfamiliar, curious, then you're right, this is truly unique and wondrous stuff. While delivering nutty savouriness, the alpine kiss and high toned mintiness of wormwood, the earthy pungency of koji, there's freshness here and high drinkability. Serve simply over the rocks with a fat wedge of orange or dial it up... toss some gin in, splash some soda over, make yourself one of the world's best ever spritz drinks. Amazing, and super limited as always.
