Franciacorta is the lesser known Italian sparkling wine, compared to its siblings Prosecco, Lambrusco and Moscato d’Asti. The Lombardy region in the far northern central part of Italy is Franciacorta’s home and was one of the first wine regions in Italy to gain a Denominazione d’Origine Controllata.
Franciacorta wines are made metode champenoise, so essentially Champagne without the price tag.
The Saten is the Blanc de Blanc of Franciacorta, 100% chardonnay that has spent 24 months on lees. A richer, toastier expression with grapefruit acidity and a underlying savouriness.
