Lucy and Alysha at it again, this time looking well beyond the Victorian border and over into McLaren Vale. Hand-picked from a single vineyard and fermented in two batches, one being a slightly more intense extraction. Both pressed into old French oak and left on lees for 10 months prior to bottling. Mataro can be a beast as a single variety, but they’ve tamed it so damn well here, retaining all the pepperiness and meatiness and that essence of blackberry and cassis, albeit just a shade lighter and without the barnstorming tannin. Surprisingly slurpy and just so darn good.
