Serafino Rivella Barbaresco Montestefano 2018

A deep, warm, fruit-driven nose composed of sweet and sour cherries, potpourri and spice sets the scene, but in the mouth it’s a decidedly different beast - more powerful, darker and more sinister. Pipe tobacco, pine cones and forest floor add layers of flavour and a tannic tartness is immediate and ever-present. Pass the bistecca.

2018 is a classic vintage, in the middle of two warmer vintages. The style is the usual Rivella style, more emphasis on the savouriness and gently oxidative side of the grape over primary fruit.
